Pookie's Preferences: Before we dive into who I am as a writer, here are a few things about the website’s creator. I am from New York, but my Long Island accent only appears when I am angry. Bagel sandwiches, sushi, and burritos are my favorite foods, which I love to share because all three share the same consonants for their first letters. My favorite New York Times Game is Spelling Bee, my college nickname is “Pookie" (hence the title), and my favorite color is every color.

About Me

Hello New Friend,

We choose to believe that writing unlocks the key to our souls; I feel grateful that today you have decided to look into the depths of mine. Now before you ask, what transpires in the soul of the short blond to your left, think of me as Carrie Bradshaw writer, with a Cher Horowitz IQ, and a Phoebe Buffay personality—take it or leave it.

My name is Emma Herold and welcome to my website! I am a recent graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.A in English with a Literature and the Environment Specialization, coupled with a Professional Editing Minor. Although my inspiration behind this website was originally nonexistent–we are required to create one to graduate from my minor–my end product came from the heart, representing who I am as a writer and well-rounded individual. My biggest strengths lie in my creativity, my personality, and my smorgasbord of passions, which have come together to create a portfolio as loud, as chaotic, and on occasion, as inspirational as I. Plus, you learn about language through my life endeavors, transforming eccentricity to educational!

The content of my website highlights formative experiences from my past, including my "why" I write, my traumatic background in musical theater, and my phenomenal experience interning for the Santa Barbara Immigrant Legal Defense Center, as well as my aspirations for my future: a double-career as a Lawyer and Yoga Sculpt Instructor. My writing style varies on the section, with my professionalism  and creativity shining through my academic and internship portfolio and my blunt and sarcastic personality seeping through my blog posts.

If you choose to continue, I hope that you learn more about my appreciation for grammar and rhetoric, my appreciation for musical theater, and my new-found love for the law (emphasis on new). Moreover, I hope you leave with a laugh–or at least, a smile. Thank you for being here.

All my love,

Emma
